R&D / QC Facilities

Research and Development is an important part of the Carotino Group and the breakthroughs pioneered by our skilled and dedicated R&D team enables the company to create new products which meet customer needs, as well as optimising cost and quality control.

The R&D focuses on three main areas:
• Process Improvement
• Product Development
• Product Application

The company has the latest advanced, cutting-edge facilities at its disposal and uses them to maximum effect to spearhead the achievement of the company’s superior products and follows a Quality Improvement program to ensure high standards.

As well as developing new, enhanced products which are tailor-made to meet customer demands, the R&D team is actively involved in monitoring existing products to ensure consistent levels of product quality and expectation.

We have a fully equipped laboratory to carry out all the necessary QC and R&D activities. Sophisticated equipments like HPLC, GLC, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), Near Infra-Red Analyser (NIR), Karl Fisher Titrators, Colorimeters, Centrifuges, Rancimats and various supporting apparatus and machines are used to carry out detailed analysis. In addition, we also have an application laboratory that focuses on customising product application.

Our laboratory is able to test all the criticals parameters of biodiesel according to the European biodiesel specification EN14214 and USA specification ASTM D6751. We can effectively control and guarantee the best quality of biodiesel exported to markets world wide.

We have GLCs dedicated to analyse food oils and biodiesel for glycerides contents, triglycerides composition, fatty acid compositions, trans fatty acids and methanol content. The HPLC is utilised to test carotene profiles, anti-oxidant content as well as tocopherols and tocotrienols content of our products. AAS is used to monitor heavy metals in our products and the NIR determines IV, moisture and FFA in samples instantly without the use of chemicals.
